Anamnesis is a Greek word for 'remembrance'.
It includes remembering of things from our past as well as
the Christian Church’s Eucharist in which the passion, resurrection, and
ascension of Christ are recalled.
This show is about my personal remembrance. I believe, as
the writer Madeline L’Engle, writes that “in art, either as creators or
participators, we are helped to remember some of the glorious things we have
forgotten, and some of the terrible things we are asked to endure…”
I hope this show also creates cosmos from the chaos of my
remembrance. Leonard Bernstein says that for him music is cosmos in chaos. I
believe all real art is cosmos, cosmos found within chaos. I hope that my
remembrance is cosmos within chaos for you.
This show of “anamnesis ” is my response to his command to
"Do this in remembrance of me".
